What is the difference between a PCR cabinet and a laminar flow cabinet?+
A PCR cabinet focuses on preventing sample contamination and features UV sterilization. A laminar flow cabinet uses HEPA-filtered unidirectional airflow to provide aseptic conditions on the work surface. PCR cabinets are for nucleic acid work; laminar flow cabinets are for general sterile work.
How often should HEPA filters be replaced?+
HEPA filters typically last 3–5 years, varying with usage intensity, ambient dust levels and application type. Filter performance should be monitored through periodic particle count testing and replaced when necessary.
How long should UV sterilization be applied?+
Generally 15–30 minutes of UV sterilization before work is recommended. UV-C lamps have an 8,000-hour lifespan and effectiveness decreases beyond this. YEKLAB supplies original UV lamps.
