What is the difference between a magnetic stirrer and a homogenizer?+
A magnetic stirrer mixes low-viscosity liquids using a magnetic stir bar; heated models are preferred for solution preparation. A homogenizer uses high-speed mechanical force for tissue disruption, cell lysis and emulsion preparation requiring intense mixing.
What applications are orbital shakers suitable for?+
Bacterial culture growth, enzyme reaction acceleration, staining removal, extraction shaking and microplate mixing are the main applications. Platform accessories allow different container types to be used.
What should I consider when choosing a homogenizer?+
Sample volume, viscosity, target particle size and application type are key selection criteria. Different probe sizes are available for 1–500 mL volume range. YEKLAB recommends the right model and probe combination.
What is the maximum temperature on a heated magnetic stirrer?+
Depending on the model, maximum plate temperatures of 280–380°C can be reached. Models with digital temperature control and external probe input enable precise solution temperature control.
